Yesterday’s April Fools’s Joke

April 1, 2015 by Lloyd 7 Comments

I should have posted this yesterday, so you could enjoy it, but I actually forgot about it until about 6:00 yesterday morning.  Jonathon Swärdén wrote the JavaScript that replaces all of the images on a webpage with pictures of Nicholas Cage, Bill Murray, Vanilla Ice, Steven Sigal and kittens.

Our Executive Director texted me this morning:

We were talking about various Practical Jokes on the Nebraska Technology Coordinator’s email list yesterday and I posted the link to our website along with what our Executive Director said and got this reply back:

“Lloyd, what was on the webpage. We did not see it!!”

I went with:

“Hint: Nicholas Cage, Bill Murray, Steven Seagal, and Ice Tea haven’t gone to Lincoln Lutheran for years.”

I need a little help.

March 20, 2013 by Lloyd 12 Comments

(Lauren says,  “Happy Birthday, Keren!”)

Lauren had a huge day with their big Baked Potato Dinner last night, so she said that I had to do a post. And it just so happened that I need your help.

Every few years I actually remember that April Fools Day is coming up before it gets here and someone tells me that my shoe is untied. When that happens, and I have a little time, and I have an idea, I like to do a little fooling at Lincoln Lutheran. A four years ago we changed all of the links on the home page to Rick Roll everyone who came to the site.

This year I’m trying something different, but I need a few people to help me test it before the big day. That’s where you come in. So pretend that you don’t know that this is an April Fools Joke and go to this page. You can read the page if you want. It’s a little bit interesting. Eventually you’ll get bored with the page and you’ll click on a link (I hear-by swear on my mother’s grave that you will not be Rick Rolled when you click on the link). Here’s what I want to know:

  1. Did anything happen when you clicked on the link?
  2. Could you figure out how to “get out” without using the back button or reloading the page?
  3. After you “got out”, did the links on the page work normally for you?
  4. What browser you are using?

If you have time, come back to this page and report your findings in the comments. Thanks for your help.
