My friend Kate planned a surprise 50th birthday party for her husband, John. He is an avid hunter, so the theme was ‘camouflage’, a very difficult word to spell. Everyone came in the appropriate gear, and looked smashing. Kate made a wispy camouflage-coat/caftan thing that was stunning, but any picture I took had a blurry coat and still face, or a still coat and blurry face, so here’s just the awesome, twirly coat:
While we were waiting for them to show up, we found ways to amuse ourselves. Annette and I took prom pictures together, by the deer:

Lloyd had an outfit, too. This marks the first (and only) time that I have sewn a necktie. He wore the whole outfit to school today, and it was pretty funny. The kids would ask, “Why are you wearing camouflage?” He’d answer, “You can see me?”
