Not too shabby

July 30, 2008 by Lauren 16 Comments

This year I’ll have more preschoolers than we have cubbies, so some prototypin’ had to be done.  A few old shelves, a miter saw,  and just a few muttered curses later – viola’!

It should just stay there.

Of course it won’t live in my entryway, but it doesn’t look bad there.  The only thing I have to do is fix the rough, exposed ends of the top piece.  They’re all raggedy particle board, and I don’t want to spend money on laminate tape.  Any ideas?

UPDATE:  Thanks for all the great ideas, everyone.  This thing almost was turned into a collage of stickers, ribbon and gum!  I had a stroke of luck, though.   Down in the basement I seemed to recall that there was an end-cap thingie from when I bought a countertop for school.  It never was used, and lo and behold – there it was!  Good thing I didn’t clean my basement, Brad.

Crinckly, but still good.

Snip snip, heat heat, apply apply.  Just don’t look too closely.

It covers most of the jaggedness.
