I know, I know – how could I find a Thermos that I love more than my previous one? Well, it took a Thermos that had a snap-in strap; foldable, Transformer-like handle, two-count-’em two cups, & a double-cap/plug-thing: one for hot coffee and one for food. (Points to me for using almost every form of punctuation known to man in that sentence.)
Why? To cook oatmeal. And I don’t even like oatmeal that much. It’s a quarter cup of steel-cut oats, a cup of boiling water (pre-heat the thermos, though), pinch of salt and some dried fruit if you like, seal ‘er up and let it sit a couple of hours. If you use the all-metal kind of thermos it will stay hot forever! (Or until I like oatmeal, which is almost as long.)
Apparently you can cook other things in it. I tried ramen (four minutes for me, please), and realized this would have come in handy in college when John would only let you use his hot pot for water only – no actual cooking. You just could not cook noodles in a Big Gulp cup. It just didn’t work.
