Your mission, should you choose to accept it…

November 8, 2014 by Lloyd 5 Comments

My boss sends out an End of the Week email with a summary of things that happened in the last week and notes about things that are coming up next week. Additionally, he also includes the following information each week:

  • Recommendations for movies/shows to watch on Netflix.
  • Places that have beverage sales going on.

This week he really out did himself. The movie recommendation was Snowpiercer, which he selected based on it’s 95% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Don’t be suckered in like we were. I too watched Snowpiercer based on the (unheard of) 95% approval rating. I can only assume that it is some sort of cruel hoax. In fact, Lauren and I watched it on our Anniversary. Well, Lauren watched the first 30 minutes before falling asleep.

But the second half of the weekly recommendations really looks to be panning out. Buy 12 bottles of wine and send in for a rebate that brings the average cost per bottle down to $0.97 each. Your job is to hound us until we give you verifiable proof that we have, in fact, sent in the rebate and all of the accompanying paperwork.

A new low

November 13, 2007 by Lauren 13 Comments

Today was a difficult day. I’m not looking for pity here, it was just emotionally trying. Anyway, I got home this evening and needed to do some laundry, make a few more videos for tomorrow’s conferences, and of course – watch House. The commercials were a flurry of dirty clothes, DVD’s, emptying trash cans, and getting some wine to drink. I had a headache, since I didn’t drink any caffeine in the afternoon, but 8 p.m. is too late to drink a Pepsi. So, I had a little wine – straight from the box. Target has their individual servings on the shelf again! They’re sold in the cutest little four-pack, and usually I’m well-mannered enough to pour it into a glass, but not tonight. Nope, pop the top off and drink it straight. At least I didn’t use a straw! I’ve got some semblance of class.

Not for individual sale in USA. Canada's ok.

A Lovely Lunch

July 14, 2007 by Lauren 3 Comments

Brad’s parents invited us to go to a local vineyard (James Arthur) for a wine tasting.  It was fantastic!  We each got to sample six different wines, and Mrs. Royuk ordered some yummy baskets of breads, cheeses and meats.  We ate outside under the coolest gazebo I’ve ever seen in my life (which has sparked some serious gazebo planning, but that’s another story).   They have it all landscaped beautifully, so when my aforementioned gazebo is built, we’ve got to get Brad right on makin’ it great.

Living like roy-uk-alty. (Wait a minute, you'll get it.)

As wonderful as the wine was, my favorite part was the gentle, gigantic cat that wandered around.  He was HUGE!!!!!  Paws as big as your leg, and absolutely no neck – his skull went straight down to his shoulders.  I need a giant cat.

I love you, kitty!!
