Happy Birthday, Jesus! Happy Anniversary, Phil and Rachel!
Lloyd and I were going to drive to Missouri today (Thursday), but we’ve postponed our travel plans until the chicken inside me stops squawking about the weather. I officially hate traveling in winter weather. It’s not that I’m worried that I’ll die – I’m worried that we’ll have an accident and I will be uncomfortable. Stuck and cold and quite complainy. Nobody wants that.
I made cookies to get into the ol’ holiday spirit, but only because I wanted to decorate them. Several years ago I was making roll-out cookies (this was back in my Martha Stewart-worship days) and was frosting them the regular way. After a while I got tired of that, so I just dumped all the frosting into the bowl and dipped the rest. They turned out surprisingly lovely with a tie-dyed effect. (Keren, were you there? Maybe we were in Delta?)
I’ve decided that this is the only way to go. The official name for this method is the ‘You Will Waste A Lot Of Icing’ method. I make icing using this recipe: Dump some sugar in a bowl, add a splash of milk and a bit of vanilla, then stir. Add more sugar if too thin, more milk if too thick, back and forth, back and forth. Continue until you have run out of one or the other. Divide some out and add color, but leave a good portion of it white.
Now, on a small plate, dump a bunch of white frosting – almost enough to cover the bottom – then dollop the colors around it. You need this to be a little deep, but the colors will muddy up after 6 or 8 cookies and you’ll have to start over, so using a plate means less waste than using a bowl.
Ok, drop a cookie in.
Pull it up, let it drip
Flip it over, let dry.
You. Are. Done.
Aren’t you the hero now? Massive visual appeal for absolute minimal effort.

Merry Christmas All!
Those cookies look amazing! Once again, I think you have a big money maker on your hands. (and speaking of dinosaurs, one year when I was at BLS I did the showcase & had large cut-outs that I drew of the 3 wise men on camels. They were done as a silloutte, all in black. Another teacher there said, “I didn’t know the wise men traveled on dinosaurs.’ Hmmmpf.
Have a wonderful day!!

You guys would not believe the number of Christmas cookies that Brad can eat. He’s a Christmas cookie nightmare (which is good, because I prefer to get my Christmas cookie enjoyment from the looking).

Merry Christmas, my friends!
