Happy Sunday

October 24, 2009 by Lauren 12 Comments

I’ve noticed these things for a few weeks, and it’s time to share them with you. Happy Sunday!

Happy bag is happy!

Have a face? Send it to me and I’ll add it. (If I’m not at church or napping.)

Happy oven is happy!

Brad sent in …..Happy?…. Church. Actually, it looks like a church who has just been told it’s going to have a tax audit.
Happy church is in shock.

At last I can confess

March 24, 2009 by Lauren 12 Comments

Remember my new camera that was the same as my old camera? The camera that I’ve owned less than a month? The camera that I bought to replace the camera that I dropped?

I dropped it. a little bit.

Actually, it fell out of my coat pocket – in its so-called ‘protective’ case – onto a sidewalk. It happened the morning of ukulele night and as I stood on that sidewalk trying to deny what just happened and pleading with God to please, please turn back time a little bit for do-overs, I realized that I was hosed. That’s why the ukulele pictures turned out so crummy – the fall made the camera only focus on the top left quadrant of every picture. Dnagdnagdnagdnagdnag.

So, after a few days of berating myself and agonizing over the waste of money and plastic, I searched on the internet for a Lauren-proof model. Turns out that Olympus makes one – the 720 sw. ‘S’ for shockproof – it can withstand a fall of 5 feet (I’m 5 1/2, so I should be ok), and ‘W’ for waterproof – up to 10 feet! (I won’t be testing that feature.)

See them hands?

So, God bless getting a sweet eBay deal and let’s all hope and pray that I don’t mess this one up.

P.S. Do you know anyone who needs camera accessories for a Canon Powershot SD30? I have a few doubles of things – docks, cables, remotes and two useless protective cases.

The Camera Saga Endeth

February 22, 2009 by Lauren 12 Comments

The trouble with Friday’s post was that it was written long ago when I still had the Fuji camera. I quit agonizing about my camera troubles the very next day because I finally ordered one that meets all my requirements: fits in my pocket, has the right-sized memory stick and charges with a cable/dock! It’s perfect!

I can’t flip the photo.

Look familiar? No, it’s not the old one. Here’s the old one.

Lloyd and I both got some pretty good shocks taking that apart the night it died. (Me because I foolishly didn’t take the battery out, Lloyd because the flux capacitor for the flash discharged. It had over 30 tiny screws holding it together.)

I’m such a sheep. I don’t take good photos with it, but it turns out that I don’t take good photos with any camera. Plus, I had all the stuff for this one already, which was a good thing. This was an open-box buy (meaning it was on sale), and the package was missing a cable. See? I’m supposed to have it.

Now if I can just keep from dropping it.

Not a keeper.

February 15, 2009 by Lauren 9 Comments

The camera, not Lloyd.

A new backdrop for our photos!

On Sundays I go window-shopping while Lloyd is at choir, and today I looked at cameras. I really want something that (a) fits in my pocket, (b) has the correct-sized memory stick that will fit in my laptop, and (3) charges by plugging a cable into the camera, not by removing the battery. I went to Circuit City, Best Buy, and Target for the initial look and figured that Lloyd would come along after choir for more intense scrutiny.

Well, we had an unexpectedly delightful dinner invitation to dine with Curt and the Pesters, so I said, “Let’s just go quickly to Target and buy that FujiFilm one that’s on sale. If I don’t like it we can return it.” So, the camera was purchased, inspected in the car, and it turns out that you have to remove the battery to charge it. Boo. So, Lloyd will return this and I’ll keep searching.

The real reason

February 20, 2008 by Lauren 13 Comments

Ok, so here’s the real reason I freaked out so much about misplacing my camera. That FedEx package that had arrived earlier in the day had brought me some camera accessories! I ordered an extra battery and a charger for a crazy great deal. (My camera can only be charged when it’s sitting on the dock.) They’re not name-brand, so I’m completely prepared for the battery to possibly melt my camera from the inside, but I’m willing to risk it.

The other thing I bought was a mini-tripod!! I am so returning the huge one from Best Buy, because this little guy is all I need! (And it was only $3.99 at SterlingTek. It’s so cute!)

Obligatory quarter included

It fits in your pocket, and it’s so gadget-y!
