(Dang. I thought the little stool would show up better in that photo. Don’t look at the table with the lamp – look at the table with the darkly invisible coffee cup and plate on it. I was eating little donuts.)
I’ve often thought that I should sing the praises of the little white stools we keep around here. I’m a big fan of multi-taskers, and these multi like crazy.
When Lloyd and I first moved to Maryland we needed more counter space in the kitchen so we bought this little island/seating thing that came with two white stools. At some point we bought a couple more, and dang if they ain’t handy. We’ve used them for extra seating, standing on to paint (in lieu of the ladder I can never find), I’ve turned them over to hang stuff on the rungs (I think I was drying socks), and most importantly – as little side tables that go whenever you need them.
So humble, so handy, so perfect for a last-minute post subject.

Is that an extension cord or telephone wire hanging by your bed? And why is there so much of it there?
Brad says
I would guess that coil of wire is an emergency escape plan: throw it out the window and climb down.

I’m knitting a room cozy.
Actually, it’s the cable for the t.v. (Long ago I drilled a hole in the wall to run it in from the other room.) We currently don’t have a t.v. in our room, so the cable is just waiting there.

I love the shoe in the window trick. Pretty slick. I always use old wooden rulers.
Lloyd says
We actually call that, “the anything close to the window” trick at our house. Pretty soon we’ll be calling it, “the we have new windows that stay where you put them” trick.
Deborah says
Are you really getting new windows?!
Lloyd says
Yes, next week. But don’t tell Lauren. She doesn’t know.
Peggy says
I gotta get me some of those stools! And some of those end tables on the wall too! I love those!
(Your walls seem so similar to Brad’s…did he copy? Did you?)

Dang…that link doesn’t work…try this one.

Brad says
It’s a coincidence. They’re two different styles. Lauren used a plastic bag. I used a sponge and cheesecloth (something so labor-intensive I would never do it again).
But I think Lauren did hers before I did mine, if you want to call someone a copycat.
Peggy says
I didn’t say copycat….sometimes you see something you like, & do it for yourself.
Even the colors looks the same…or really close.
christina says
If you ever want to paint that way again, get the Wall Magic brush….it is so easy!
