Last week had some rough spots, but Friday was laughably bad. I did all kinds of things wrong – like dropping some cd’s down the stairs – twice, tripping over stuff, misplacing things – but it all started by being late to school because I couldn’t find my hat and gloves. (I need my hat and gloves! This is Nebraska, for cryin’ out loud.) After too much frantic searching I grumbled to Lloyd, “Forget it, let’s go,” and we went out to the car. I got in, looked down, and….
Dang.
I took a picture, peeled it off the frozen pavement and turned it over to see all the ice. “You’re going to take a picture of that, right?” asked Lloyd.
“Hush,” I answered. “I know how to document misfortune.”
I was cold at recess.

Sad Story 🙁

When stuff like that happens to me, I at least take comfort in the fact that I’m not crazy: I didn’t actually put it somewhere, then not remember where I’d put it.

Sorry for being dim (and Australian) but what does the title have to do with the content?
Is it because of all the flooding here and how my fellow Australians are filming all of it as opposed to, say, HELPING people as they film them being washed away to their deaths??! (ie documenting misfortune???)
Only thing I could come up with.

No disrespect to Australia and its fine people! It’s from the story Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst. In it the little guy is just having all kinds of troubles -- He gets gum in his hair, his brothers are picking on him, he gets smushed in the car and can’t sit by the window, etc. He wants to move to Australia, but his mom tells him, “Some days are like that -- even in Australia.”
If you’d like to hear the author read the story, it’s here.

Ah knew I was being dim (and ill-read). That makes cute sense now.And was a fun story.
(and my people aren’t fine at the moment. I am really annoyed with them. Stop filming things and help people….. sorry to inadvertently hijack the discussion. I will vent my spleen on my blog soon)
Sorry about your hat. Would you like me to send you a football beanie?

hope that works.

It could have been worse. At first I thought maybe a little rabbit had made a home in your hat and Lloyd accidently ran over the whole thing in the driveway. It looks like 2 little feet sticking out of the hat. Whew! I’m glad your hat was filled with just ice.
