I’ve been trying to get more parent-interactive things to happen at school. I finally got into using e-mail (hangs head in shame that it took me so long to get on board with that) and have sent out daily blurbs about what goes on in class, plus we’ve got the Facebook page, and I’ve tried some online surveys. Some things get feedback, some don’t.
So, I put up an old-school idea. We work a lot on describing & naming emotions in preschool, and start to move away from the basic 4. I put up a banner asking parents to help come up with some ’emotion’ words.
The above photo is the first day I hung up the paper. I have had some responses, but for the most part it’s just me adding words and trying to disguise my handwriting. So, to satisfy my “let’s do this together” itch, how ’bout you help me?
Emotion words – Go!
Brad says
Happy -- Glad
Sad --
Mad -- Grumpy
Scared -- Nervous
It’s funny… I’ve been sitting here for a long time trying to think of a “sad” word. “Blue”? Would a pre-schooler be able to understand that? “Discontented”? “Regretful”? I think I’ll just stick with “sad”.
Lauren says
These are great! I’m putting them all up. The cool thing is that I won’t use every one with the kids, but having them on the wall sparks other ideas. Even if I can’t use it with the child, it’s helpful when talking to parents.
Lloyd says
Play a little Muddy Waters for those little guys. They’ll know what the blues are then.
Deborah says
How ’bout I just loan you my thesaurus?
Brad says
I thought those were all extinct. So in a contest between a thesaurus and a tyrannosaurus rex, who would win?
How about a titanoboa?
