Lloyd said that he and the boys have been taking turns sleeping on the floor in Maui, and that reminded me that I actually used to like sleeping on the floor. I folded up a blanket as a mat last night and conked out on the floor. It was actually very comfortable, except when Ralph started chewing on a lampshade to wake me up. Stupid Ralph.
Anyway, I woke up in plenty of time to get ready for late church. The VBS kids were going to gather and sing, so I got to wear my t-shirt and jeans! Woo-hoo! I had another reason, though – we were going to be taking out the pews on one side of the church so that work can begin for the renovation! (New lighting and fire sprinkling will be going in over the next several weeks.)
It was fun taking the nuts out that held them to the floor and I regret not getting a shot of the underside of the pews. After a while the actual moving people came and they were just amazing! One of the guys made some covered boards to use as braces so the pews wouldn’t snap in half as they were transported outside, down the sidewalk and into the gym. I helped in an ADD way, but mostly documented and ran to buy soda and ice. (Lloyd says that you always reward volunteers somehow. If you don’t show your appreciation, that’s bad form.)
It was a fun and delightful time, and I’m excited to see what will happen next.
