We went to Lincoln this morning to hear a gospel group at Samith and Stephannie’s church. They were a bluegrass-inspired group from Minnesota – a family of nine with more stringed instruments than a music store. It was a little like being in Silver Dollar City, minus the funnelcakes.
Afterward we went to see Samith’s office. It’s called Five Nines, which is some computer term. (I asked why they didn’t just call it ’45’.) It was so, so, so weird for me to see this. It’s a place of work for – get this – only grownups. It was all new and shiny, with desks and framed art on the wall, and just so….. grown up. It was hard to get used to. Rooms and rooms and rooms of full-sized furniture and beautiful shelves. No toys, no cubbies, no boots in the hall. Strange.
They had the usual computer-nerd stuff lying around. I loved it.
Lloyd got to sit in the cool, not-purchased-at-an-auction chairs. I think he may have liked them. (His office is a re-purposed closet, you might remember.)
Do other grown-ups have places like this? I feel like Dorothy, and everything just went to color.
