The room is done! Hooray! One of the schools of thought that we use at school is that the environment is the third teacher in the room. (The other children are the second teacher.) We think that it’s important to give children a place to play and learn that is beautiful – not bright and garish, but natural, organized, and with a bit of magic thrown in. I don’t always accomplish that goal, but this year I had time to give it a good shot. I’m particularly proud of housekeeping! I took down the old lattice that suggested a low ceiling. It was cute when it was new, but it was old and tired. I hope they like it. In fact, I hope they like it so much that everyone is as good as gold the first week!

We also bought some really cool books that use paintings by real artists as some of the stories. I have them displayed in the painting area – maybe I’ll learn a little something myself!
