Today we headed to another auction at UNL, but Lloyd surprised me by looking around and then saying, “Let’s go.” Wow! That never happens.
We had things to do, though. He’s got eight projector carts at school that need to be rigged up, so that was our day. We went to school, he figured out what we’d need, then we went shopping for stuff. Our stops: Radio Shack for some connectors, Sears for some extension cords, Menards for some hooks and cable covers, and…… Closeouts for whatever we could find. That place is so deliciously weird! I used to be afraid to go in it alone, because from the outside it totally looks like some seedy place where you could get murdered, but inside it’s a crazy… rare-tool… junk collection…. I’m at a loss to describe it. Imagine that someone put all the clearance stuff from old hardware stores in your grandpa’s basement. It’s great fun. One of my favorite things to look at are the GIANT tools. They can’t be for any real purpose. They’ve got giant socket wrench sets, giant monkey wrenches, and plain old giant wrenches. You’d need some sort of machinery to move bolts that big.
Love it. Love it. Love it.
