It’s the last week of preschool* and I ‘m getting some stuff done at home.
One of the things I am most thankful for is this ol’ iMac. It makes me look like a GREAT teacher! This was the first year I got my act together and sorted out (by child) the digital pictures we take at school so every child can have their own DVD of the year. This machine makes the process go lickety-split! So that’s what I’ll be doing the next couple of evenings. Yee-haw.
(*That doesn’t really mean much. Summer is almost the same as the rest of the year – I still have to plan the day’s work, but I can wear shorts if I want! (I don’t. ) For those of you who care about the details, the three-year-olds join us (the four-and-five-and-thirty-eight-year-olds) for the whole day. We still have stories, centers and Jesus Time, but there are a LOT more bathroom visits.)
Deanne says
Help me understand how the Mac makes it all better. I mean, you still have to sort through them, one by one, right?
(And you ARE a great teacher if you’re sorting out by child and then making a DVD for them--you didn’t need any machine to help you there!!)
Brad says
You should sneak subliminal messages into those DVD’s. Some suggestions:
“Give Mrs. Sommerer $20.”
“Give Mrs. Sommerer your parents’ car keys.”
Lauren says
Excellent idea, Brad!
Deanne, thanks for the kind words! Last year was the first time I burned a copy of pictures for the class, but it was just a compilation of everybody. This year I went through the photos once a week to sort them, so it didn’t take much time. I made last year’s disk on the school’s computer and it had no sound -- just photos. Burning them on the iMac makes it look like a real movie! God bless the iMac, and iDVD.

When we got the mac, we said, “We’re going to make cool movies.” Well, maybe next month…
Kristi says
Are you also making a DVD for your boss? I’m thinking a subliminal mesage something like this: “Give Mrs. Sommerer a raise.” “Give Mrs. Sommerer more vacation.”
Annette says
We Lutheran women come prewired with guilt. We don’t accept cash or time off.
Kristi says
“Mow Mrs. Sommerer’s yard for her.”
“Give Mrs. Sommerer matches for Christmas.”
“Pay Mrs. Sommerer’s heat bill for the winter months.”
Beth says
Heh. Clever.
Annette says
My son did mow a few times last summer, I did give her tea lights once for her birthday, (I think.) which should cover the heat bill as she uses them in her cinder block heating units. Matches, hmmm…didn’t you pick a whole box up in the basement at the old Well Bar???
Lauren says
I see that it’s working…..
Beth says
I hate you just a little bit for all the cool things you do.
I mean that in the nicest possible way. 😀
Lauren says
Hey, you’ve made people. That wins -- hands down.
