My parent sent us a goodie box for Christmas, and inside was a cute little box with a note from my Dad – “Open now.” (Always a good note to put on a gift.) Inside was a very cool manger stamp to use at the preschool. The children have enjoyed it very much! Here is a small sampling of their work:
“There’s two shepherds and Mary and Joseph and an angel. And the sheep. And Baby Jesus.”
“I made Mary and Joseph. These are the cows. There’s a building and the sun.” In both of these examples, I love the animals best. Of course, they aren’t all so detailed… or historically accurate, for that matter.
“I wrote some words. It says Baby Jesus was sitting in a cradle. There was a knife and monster that bite Joseph. I wanted to make it scary.”
Mission accomplished.
Ummmm. I think that last little guy needs to talk to a professional. A little creepy.
Perhaps the star was the connection in his mind that led to conflating the birth of Jesus with Herod and the baby boys????????
Aahhhh…so he really is a theological genius!
What? No robots? What’s a good manger scene without robots?
Kids say the funniest things! Maybe that last one needs to have a look at Bethlehem: http://bethtastic.com/2008/12/14/bethlehem/
Those pictures are udderly adorable!! (sorry)
I’m almost as good an artist of those pre-schoolers…almost. Last year a teacher’s comment on the bulletin board I did was: “I didn’t know there were dinosaurs at the 1st Christmas.” (they were camels) This year the baby Jesus & cradle look like a spaceship, complete with extraterrestial glow. sigh
I should get them to draw Lloyd.
