Happy Birthday, Mark!
So, the oven died, right? Lloyd and I are too lazy to make a stove-buying decision right now, so of course I had to buy a gadget!
Meet:
Max Burton, Induction Cooktop.
*Pause for action hero theme to play.*
Max is sleek. He’s futuristic. Max, an induction burner, has an electro-magnetic coil inside that only heats pans made of certain kinds of metal, all the while staying cool and collected around the edges. Max comes with a steel adapter in case you’re pans are made of aluminum, which most of mine are. (Oops.)
The cast iron pot works just fine, and was the first test run. That’s not a dirty pot – it’s all scratched up. Note the ice that isn’t melting as the water boils.
Max is awesome! …..except for a few annoying habits. Like most men, he makes weird noises. (A zappy sound when on lower settings. Lloyd dislikes it so much that he thinks I should return it.) His heat is basically from a 4-inch ring in the middle, which I can live with for the few months he’ll need to serve as kitchen hero.
We’ll see how it works out.

That Max Burton is mighty fine looking! It’s like having a smooth top stove top! Excellent! And if you don’t like the zappy sounds, just sing whenever it’s on a low setting…that’s what I would do.
And I think you should get this next:

So you can see when it’s the just the right color!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK!!
Amy says
Oh my! I want one of those…
Brad says
“…for the few months…” You’re going to wait months before getting a new stove? I could see me doing that, but you cook all the time.
Kristi says
If Lloyd doesn’t like the sounds that Max makes, maybe he’ll hurry up and buy you a new stove.
CousinSam says
That third picture looks like you’re cooking hair. Does it really help to cook it?
Lauren says
Nothing helps Lloyd’s hair. I’ve tried soaking -- even scrubbing.
Mark says
Thanks, sis! And Peggy!!
That’s a fancy schmancy hotplate you’ve got there. So gadgety too!
