Burger night is back! Burger night is back!
God bless the hamburger fundraiser at our farmers’ market. There is nothing better than knowing that on Wednesday night – dinner is taken care of. (Well, there is something better: The weekly adrenaline rush of re-remembering that it’s happening. “Hmmmmm, what to make for dinner tonight…. Hey! It’s burger night!”)
This time we almost missed out. Lloyd and I were going to meet there (walking from home and work, respectively). He asked me to stop at the bank to get some cash. Once inside the ATM hideout, I discovered that I had several wallet-shaped items in my bag (camera, camera charger, cell phone, iPod case), but no wallet.
NOOOOO!!!!
It was torture – I could see the burgers cooking, but would be denied their inexpensive deliciousness.
Luckily we scraped together the five bucks for dinner. Lesson learned: Hide cash in odd spots. Future you will thank you.
Oh, speaking of farmers’ markets, check out my sister’s booth in Alaska! Mobile Mending with a foot-powered sewing machine!
Brad says
Cool! Your sister is famous!
And she’s Ken Fankhauser’s favorite!
Maybe I should visit her. My big toe nails continue to regularly cut through my socks, making them unwearable.
Peggy says
Could you just have those toenails removed?
Kristi says
Ewww. I had to have my thumbnail removed in high school because I had warts growing UNDER the nail. It was not a pretty sight. I don’t wish that kind of situation on anybody.
Gretchen says
Nice plug for Mobile Mending! $5 for dinner -- that is an incredible bargain, especially with the current Euro rate. I think $5 would get me a side of Pommes Frites around here. That’s all.
Brad says
What’s a Pommes Frites? Is that some kind of small animal? 😉
Lloyd says
And you’d have to buy your ketchup. Barbarians.
Peggy says
What about your cash can???? Is it out of cash already?
That is soooo cool that your sister was on TV!!
(and on my list of all the things I can’t do….sewing is right up there at top. Unless I’m hand sewing a Halloween costume.)
Lauren says
I didn’t have my keys. The key ring you see is my extra school key. 🙁
Kristi says
Just $5 to have dinner for two? That’s almost worth driving there for it.
And way to go, sister. That is an OLD sewing machine.
Keren says
Thanks for the shameless plug. I do like mending, it’s true. I wish we had hamburger night around here. If we did, it would cost $5 each and that would be a bargain. You are so lucky….
