A very happy birthday to Gracen! We went out with the Sommerers (minus Anna, plus young friend Sam) to dinner in Lincoln, then over to Lowes to pick up some stuff for older cousin Sam. While we were there, I thought I could pick up a replacement flashlight since mine died in the Great Pocket Soda Tragedy of ’14. Passing an impulse buy display, I picked up a couple of Weeble Wobble lights for the boys. Rachel said they looked like minions from Despicable Me.
After the boys took some tape to them, they looked even more like them.
This was all kinds of excellent. Two kids making stuff out of tape, flashlights and imagination? There’s nothing better.
Sam and Rachel surprised Gracen with a basketball game that I had the privilege of assembling with Rachel. I am pleased to announce that we were quite civilized to each other as we worked, which would never have happened working with our spouses. When it was all over and done, the kids had a blast. Let me show you in slo-mo:
Happy Saturday!

That image that has a bunch of words in it is the picture you took! Cool!

It’s an app called WordFoto. Sam used it for his class at Christmas, and I stole the idea for my kids’ Christmas presents. It’s very fun!

Pictures, please…

Thanks for the awesome post, Lauren. Sam and Gracen were most impressed. And I am sure Cousin Sam will approve when he sees it as well. Thanks for spending a great evening with us. And it was nice to work with someone who is logical, thoughtful, and who follows the directions. You can ask for my assistance any time.
Lauren says
You are welcome. 🙂

Ha! I love the minnion flashlights! Way to go boys!
And excellent basketball gift! (Unfortunately I can’t view the video on my phone)
Maybe next year you could get them a skee ball machine. i’d like to volunteer to help with that one!
Lauren's dad says
So, who’s pumping what in the lower right? A water gun to shoot icicles in today’s cold?
Lauren says
Hee hee -- that’s Anna pumping up another basketball. The game came with so many!
Peggy -- you are on for a skee ball!
