A medium mystery

February 21, 2010 by Lauren 5 Comments

First of all, let me apologize for the blurry photos. My camera battery was about to die so I just snapped some quick pictures before putting it on the charger.

Ok, on to the mystery. Lloyd and I have had the same set of pots and pans for our whole marriage. (Thank you, Mark.) When we moved into this house I marked where they should go on the pull-out shelf so Lloyd could put them away when we emptied the dishwasher.

It's that no-slide liner stuff. I have never washed it.

Slowly, they are disappearing.

I know what happened to the little pot. Many years ago I started to make some rice in it, remembered that I needed some ingredients for the rest of dinner, went to the store (you see where this is going), and came back to a smoke-filled house because the water in the little pot (that I had stupidly left on the stove) had boiled away and the pot was beginning to burn. Trashed.

But ever since we got the new stove, I can’t find the middle pot. Where is it? I’ve actually looked for it but have no idea. Lloyd thinks it’s probably at my school, since that’s where most of our stuff ends up, but I don’t think so.

He'll be cold without his lid. *sniff*

Where are you, middle one? Are you ok?

I’ve heard of losing a spoon or maybe even a glass, but a whole pot? Maybe Lloyd’s just messing with you.

I believe we are also short a few spoons if that sort of clue is useful to anyone.

A couple things come to mind:
Has anyone ever checked Brad’s luggage before he leaves?
Do you have big squirrels in the area?
Are there any candles that are sitting in stainless steel prototypes with handles somewhere?
Have your preschoolers started wearing new hats with copper tops?
BTW -- these are the same pans that my mom has. I’ll check her set to see if she has any of yours by accident. 🙂

Aww…it’s like Papa Pot, Mama Pot & Baby Pot. Have you noticed any strange little girls with blond hair in your house?

(If it makes you feel any better, in the last 3 weeks I’ve lost a pair of work pants. Honestly, how does that happen?

I too am missing some random kitchen equipment -- a couple of large plastic storage containers (but I’ve got the lids); a bottle brush; a little metal spatula; the spare parts to an oil-sprayer thingy. I usually blame lost items on the movers but in this case it doesn’t apply. Maybe this is a worldwide phenomena.
