Tonight was the summertime Settlers of Catan game, which meant that Lloyd, Beth, Harold, Charles and Brad (who plays, but doesn’t want to) played their little game. (Curt, we’re sorry you weren’t there. It all came about very suddenly, though, so no hard feelings?)
Deborah and I did Not Play. Instead, she made a Fancy Drink. I did Not Drink Anything except Water, since my Stomach Has Issues. I’ve decided to Capitalize Stuff Randomly, just to Be Funny.
Ok, on to the Mint Julep. Julip? Whatever. We have some spearmint in our yard, and Deborah says that this is how iht’s duhn. (Say that in a Southern drawl, y’all, like Paula Deen.)
Put some mint leaves in a glass, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and smash smash smash.
Add ice, some whiskey, and some orange juice. I was too lazy to actually mix up the orange juice, but Deb said the concentrate would work just fine.
Decorate with mint, let steep, sip slowly on a porch whilst fannin’ yeourselves, y’all.
We tried to make this once a couple of years ago and really messed it up. What did Deb do that was So Magical?

We’ve been getting some really convincing spam lately. Lauren, the ever vigilant, deletes it when she finds it. But sometimes it’s just hard to tell. Lately, they have been including words or phrases from the title of the post. But the give-away is where they link to.
What do you think? Is joe spam?
Deanne says
My first reaction was spam, before I read your comment. But then I thought maybe not. Now I’m back to spam. But I would never, ever click on his link. Crazy monsters might jump out of my computer.

Smashing the leaves and sugar is called muddling. I like that word: muddle. I think I’ll say it a couple of times. Muddle… muddle… Ha!
Rae says
Interesting… one of my favorite words is puddle. Puddle, puddle, puddle. I think we are on to something…

How nice to have a Master Bartender sweep into town on game night! That drink looks delightful! Maybe on next game night you could invite Paula Deen. Or at least serve some of her tasty treats.
