I found some old pictures in the basement and I’m putting these up here for memory purposes. Around 1997 or 1998 we has siding put on, and since we had plans to build a new garage at some point (let me pause here to regain my composure from laughing), the old one had to come down before the siding went up.
The garage was teeny-tiny. We only had our truck then, and the garage was so narrow that the passenger had to get out before the driver could pull in, and then there was barely enough room for the driver to get out. The house was built in 1932, so that garage was meant for tiny cars.
Anyway, here is its demolition in pictures so I can remember it:
See, this is why it’s good to have a website. Now I can remember this day in history. That is, until the internet eats my photos.
Brad says
You took the garage down yourself? Wow, that was brave. Or dumb. hehe
You could have kept the garage and bought a tiny little car.
Lloyd says
The garage had actually been expanded at one point. The original garage was a little mirror image of the house with symmetrical sides. At some point someone slapped another 4 feet onto the end of the garage giving it more of a salt-box shape.
Peggy says
That little garage almost looks like a teardrop trailer. Actually I’m surprised you didn’t tear down the house & remodel the garage into a little home.
Lauren's dad says
Did you have to buy a city permit to tear it down? Or, did the city pay you to do so?
Lauren says
Peggy, this was before I realized my love of tiny living spaces. I deeply regret it now. 🙁
Dad, as former Pretend Mayor of Seward, I granted myself Unlimited Destructive Powers.
Lauren's mom says
I love your house, -even without the little garage.
Are you feeling any better?
Lauren says
No. Boooooooooooo.
Peggy says
Sorry. Feel better soon. If it makes you feel any better, I have a terrible sinus thing going on that making me want to sleep waaaay too much. I mean I love to sleep, but….
