How Lauren died

April 27, 2011

The yard was looking pretty shaggy, and needed mowing. The problem is our schedules are pretty tight, and it was either mow it Wednesday night or Sunday afternoon. If we waited until Sunday, I think it might have been difficult to find the driveway through the overgrowth.

So, I got home at 6, made a little dinner, then went outside to get the mower and saw a giant, dark cloud looming in the west.

I’ve never mowed so fast in my life.

How fast? Well, including four stops to see what the heck was wrong with my iPod (it kept skipping the second half of songs) and a brief chat with a neighbor who invited us to his son’s graduation party – I mowed that baby in twenty-seven minutes! It usually takes me forty-five!

I put the mower away, plopped down in front of the computer, and it started to rain.

A storm's a-comin'! Well, a sprinkle.

Whew. Glad I got it done. I hate when things get shaggy.

Racing to finish adds lots of excitement to lawn mowing, doesn’t it? I could mow my lawn a lot faster if I didn’t have to run my weak mower across the same patch of grass twice in order to get a clean look. (Why did I skimp on horsepower? Stupid Brad.)

So what was wrong with your iPod? I need to know how to fix it, if that ever happens to mine…

What did you eat for dinner that so energized you? I need some of that.

Maybe your new tennis shoes had something to do with your new ability to move so fast!

    Way to beat the storm!!
