Most of my work projects are pretty boring to post about, but here’s one that was worth a photo. The shed on our playground has been a tan color that is a fine neutral, but I’m excited for spring to come and wanted to green things up quickly.
Getting the paint was the holdback on this project. Everytime I was in Lincoln I’d forget to go to a home store and check the colors. Eventually I did, but wanted to ask my coworkers about the color. I kept forgetting to ask them, so one night I just went to Wal*Mart and bought a gallon.
That was not a great idea.
This color looks much lighter than I wanted, yet it looked right on the sample. In the shade it looks right, but I’ll have to get used to it. (I got a discount on it because they ran out of pigment when mixing it up, so it’s kind of a one-gallon experience with no do-overs.) Maybe tomorrow I’ll work on the trim.
Oh, Lloyd wants me to share with you, as I shared with him, that I saw Elmo out by the trash can yesterday so he’s ok – the robin didn’t get him. (yet)

I think the green is nice. It’s weird though… I don’t remember that shed at all. Maybe it was because it was brown.

I like the new color. It’s so “earthy,” not that the brown wasn’t earthy, but I like the change. What do the munchkins think of it?
Also, I’ve never seen a scooter with two sets of handlebars -- clever.

There was much screaming and rejoicing. I really built it up before we went outside, though.
I went ahead and painted the trim the same color, as well as the bit of flashing just under the mini-eave. It looks much better now, and the green has grown on me. Plus, I ain’t re-doin’ it.

I think the green looks just fine! It is a beautiful little shed.
I’m getting ready to start painting the interior of my house (well, that’s my hope)…and the one thing that I hate is how the paint on the walls never quite looks like the sample. Even when you bring home the samples to hold them up to account for different lightning etc., the finished product can look so different! What’s up with that?

I like the new color.

The shed looks great! You should build a ladder so the kids can climb to the roof and climb across that trellis. That would be cool. Don’t worry, it isn’t that high, it should be safe. Plus, kids bounce when they fall, don’t they?
