So….. it has come to this.

April 16, 2013

Bleh. The tub has been draining slowly for a few days. I tried using the plunger, but it didn’t help and just pulled up some stuff from the drain that almost made me add to the stuff in the drain. I thought about using the baking soda, vinegar & hot water, but sometimes you just gotta go with the nasty chemicals. By the way, I never knew that Draino was spelled Drano with the long ‘a’ line.

Sorry, earth. Sorry that I’m too lazy to take the drain cover off and deal with whatever’s under it. *jibblie*

The long line is called a macron, just so ya know. That’s a long A in macron, pronounced [may-krahn].

Did it work? I had trouble with a slow drain once and had really good success with a can of compressed air. It was made specifically for drains and was in the same aisle as Drano. It looked like a regular spray can, but had a modified top. You turned it upside down, sealed it up against the slow drain while the tub was filled with water, and pressed down. The jolt of air was like a plunger on steroids. It blasted the pipe clean.

I am familiar with what can get stuck in those drains. We had to have a plumber come once to clear ours & I too almost vomited when I saw it. I thought for sure a toy or something had got stuck in the pipe. Nope. Just about 20 people’s full heads of hair & other muck. (gag-gag-gag) I’ll never watch that again.
