The preschool summer program has started up at the CDC, and that means more starting over, one of my least favorite things. We’re working on getting routines in place, which takes time. It will all be fine, it’s just tough getting through these days/weeks.
I find myself want to make videos to share information that is vital for parents, such as not letting their children run ahead of them in the hallway. I was going to finish one tonight titled ‘Stay With Your Child For Crying Out Loud’, but I don’t have all the photos I was going to use. Plus I’m so tired I worry it might be a pretty weird, three-hour French movie by the time I finished.
Tomorrow. Tomorrow I will make a masterpiece.

Oops. I don’t remember if I let my child go ahead of me when they were in pre-school. I think I held their hands, but I can’t be sure.
The DVD is an excellent idea!

The sad thing is the parents who can’t figure this stuff out already will not benefit from a DVD. (It reminds me of a sign we once saw at a 4th of July event on an Army base. It said “Parents are responsible for their children.” I thought DUH!!!)
Maybe the children run ahead of their parents because they are just SO EXCITED to see Mrs. Sommerer!!

My co-worker Debbie in Baltimore used to talk to parents at Parents-to-School night about having a middle schooler and what the parents should and should not do (e.g. Don’t swoop in to rescue your child if they forgot their homework or lunch at home.)
