I hope you’re not busy at work today.
So here is what started the whole video download extravaganza. The following link is to a ten-minute long promotional video from 1994, which was Concordia’s centennial. The footage was shot a couple of years before that, and it cracks me up – the hair, the clothes, the stark classrooms with chalk and filing cabinets. That would never fly here.
You certainly don’t have to watch the whole thing. If you want to just skip ahead to 6:33 you’ll see a young whippersnapper who looks remarkably like Lloyd did 20-some years ago, followed by a fresh-faced, contacts-wearing young girl. Ahhhh…. youth….
Also, here is Deborah’s Spring Weekend team’s magnificent entry, Under The Sea! That’s Deborah dancing about in front and Kris over to the right in the pink-ish shrit!
And not to be outdone, just a snippet of Sam. His team was the first one to use Garth Brooke’s Friends in Low Places (and Sam did the best), and then two or three more teams ‘sang’ it. When our team walked up in cowboy gear, there was angry muttering. Thank goodness we were singing Kenny!
Brad says
You both look like you’re twelve.
I think I remember being in class with Prof. Vasconcellos when that was filmed, but I don’t see myself.
Lloyd says
Wait ’til she posts your newscasts of the Spring Weekend events.
Peggy says
I hope you’re not just kidding.
Lauren says
Oh, he is not kidding.
Deborah says
Thanks for finding these and putting them on the world wide web! Great times and lots of fun!
I showed my juniors the lip sync videos (yours and mine). I figured since they were on youtube, they would have been found eventually.
Lauren says
Ha! Did they gain or lose respect for us?
Deborah says
They were disoriented and mumbling as they left the classroom.
Peggy says
I just LOVE the idea of lip syncing for a performance! Deborah…you were fantastic! And boy did Sam have alot of fans!
And L&L….you both are so cute!! Were you dating yet when that video was taken? Married?
Lauren says
I think this was 1992, just from judging my hair, so yes, we would have been married. I don’t know, though.
Peggy says
I would have done this song. Shut up. It tells a story.

Lauren says
HA!!!!! I have never heard that song before! That was delightfully horrible! It would have made an excellent lip sync. 😉
Peggy says
That song came out when I was in middle school. It was quite shocking. Years & years later whenever the topic of crazy songs would come up, I would ask people if they remembered it….and no one ever did. They thought I was making it up (of course it could have been my dreadful singing of the refrain that threw them off). Enter youtube…..and proof that that song did exist & I wasn’t crazy. So there.
Kristi says
Ooooh, I’m in the “Under the Sea” one, too!
Deborah says
I was going to point that out, too. Kristi had an integral part that didn’t get on the video. I won’t tell you what she did.
Lauren says
Yes! I forgot to mention that! Thank you! Spill the integral part, Deborah.
Deborah says
That’s Kristi’s story to tell.
Kris says
Spill, Kristi, spill!
Kristi says
“integral part” -- very generous of you, Deborah.
While Jeanine was holding up the hula hoop (to look like she was in a fish bowl), the lyrics were: “Some day when the boss gets hungry….”
My line was: “…Guess who will be on ‘de plate!” and then I smashed my hands together like a crocodile’s mouth.
Lauren says
Ha! That is excellent!
Kristi says
Deborah’s moonwalk is what we really need to see. Any idea if it’s still sitting in the archives somewhere in Link Library?
Lauren says
I don’t know. This was the only year I know that was videotaped, and that’s because Brad and Lloyd had the camera. (Subject of tomorrow’s post.)
