We have an Aldi’s in Lincoln now. If you’ve never been to one, it’s an experience. It is a small store with limited selection – only one kind of everything. You need flour? Well, they have a whole pallet of this one brand and one size. Think ‘Sam’s Club’, but on a much, much smaller scale, not in bulk. Also, bring a quarter, because that’s how you free your cart from Cart Jail. (You get your quarter back later.)
The prices are very cheap. I bought a couple of things we actually needed, and just for fun, I bought this can of roast beef for $1.25. I had recently read that if you are going to give to food banks, canned meats (not just tuna) are a good choice. I thought we could sample it.
No.
Think ‘Campbell’s soup’ chunks of meat – very cube-like in a soup-like gravy. It was not good, but we ate it for science.
For science!
