There is a new business in Seward: Bottle Rocket Brewery. Since Seward is America’s Fourth of July Small Town, it’s a brilliant idea – making small batches of beers named after firecrackers. (If I would have been paying attention to the names, I could have told you them.)
Tonight they had their grand opening. It was an Octoberfest celebration, and it was very well done. We hung out outside in the big tent space.
The only downside for me was that the Oompa Band was quite loud for such an enclosed space, and it was very hard to hear. I was fixin’ to leave, but then the band packed up. Hooray! Later, a young man started to quietly play his accordion, and we cheered him onto the stage. He was adorable.
Also, they sold pretzels, imported from Germany, bigger than the plate. Fabulous.

Shoot! I wanted to come to that. I heard about it on July 4. Back then, October 23 seemed so far away. Somehow it came faster than expected.

I didn’t notice the space shuttle last night. Interesting.

Bottle Rocket Brewery…..long may they live!!! I loved the Oompa Polka Band, especially the tuba and….two prof’s from Concordia played trumpet and trombone. Well done BRB, a new community staple, God-willing! Two guys from our congregation are President and Vice-president. Great attendance and lots of schmoozing………………and BEER, brats, chicken, sauerkraut, potatoes, pretzels—yummy, yummy!
