So, the weekly list has an ‘adventurous food situation’ which I don’t know if I’ll do every week, but it seemed the best place to put stuff like making homemade pasta. Last week I toiled for hours making those lorighittas, and on Saturday, I boiled and ate them.
I wasn’t sure how to sauce them, so I went with the simple tomato sauce: simmer a can of tomatoes, an ungodly amount of butter and half an onion for a good long time. An hour? It was pretty good, and I stuck some of that roasted garlic in there, too.
I worried about the pasta, mostly because they smelled just like those dough ornaments we made as children, and now I was about to eat them. I have warned many a child to not eat play dough, and now I was about to be a hypocrite.
It worked out ok. I didn’t want to keep checking them like I do with spaghetti, because biting into one was like eating a piece of art. The first one seemed done enough so I drained them, but I should have let them go another minute.
They weren’t too bad. I put on loads of parmesan from a sprinkle can (because that’s how I roll) to enhance the whole Italian Grandma vibe. I wish they were a tiny bit more done, but Lloyd pronounced them good and he would “eat them again and again. They were better than cats.”
