Gettin’ old.

Journal, Lauren, Lloyd, School

Yesterday Lloyd called to ask if I’d like to go to a spontaneous birthday party that one of his co-workers was having for herself. “Sounds fun!”  I replied!  So, we all met at Red Robin, and it turned out to be us and several of her friends from around Lincoln.  It was very interesting, since all of them had jobs that WEREN’T teaching.  I can’t remember the last time I’ve been with a group like that.  One worked at a company that produced newsletters for other companies, one was a pastor, one was a nursing student, one worked at UNL (but not as a teacher!), one guy was in charge of all the computers for some call-processing place, and one was a grad student.  I thoroughly enjoyed the evening…..until I realized I was the oldest one there.  That’s going to start happening alot, now, huh?

“Happy Birthday, Customer,  We hope you liked the food, We sing this made-up birthday song just so we don’t get sued.  Stupid Michael Jackson, or was it Paul McCartney? He bought the rights to the real song and ruined all our parties.”

    Age doesn’t matter … unless you’re a cheese!

Lauren -- could that possibly be the side of your head in the foreground? Be careful -- someone might see you!
In your post when you said, “one was a pastor, one was a nursing student…” it reminded me of that song, “I Sing a Song of the Saints of God.”
Red Robin? I just had my first Red Robin experience Thursday! What a coincidence! I had lunch with a mutual friend. I ate too much, then went home and took a nap -- rough snow day!

Was the birthday party for someone who was turning 24? That’s what always makes me feel old…people turning an age that I just barely remember…

  5. Lauren Said on:

As a matter of fact, she DID turn 24! Don’t you just want to puke? (Well, you probably do. Sorry.)

When we were 24, she was 12. She could have been a seventh grader that Lloyd taught. Ha!

Actually, the only thing I have difficulty with in the age-difference category is the binge drinking. Young people these days don’t do enough binge drinking.

I think when she was 12, we were 25. Are you trying to kill me?????

I was 32 when that girl was 12! I vote for changing the subject. Yes Lauren -- her hair is shiny -- must be the product she is using. So, what type of hair products do you all use? Lloyd, how do you keep your hair so manageable?
