Our Very Special Guest Star…

Journal, Lauren

Remember this boy?

What??

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that is Josh!  For those of you who don’t know, Josh is Lloyd’s cousin who came to Seward with Lloyd’s brothers several years ago to detassel.  They were teenagers when they were here, and now Josh is all grown up.  He’s headed to Alaska to cut down all the trees.  (Josh hates trees.)  Oh, wait, actually he’s doing tree service – bringing them fresh towels and freshening their drinks.  No, wait – trimming the trees.  Got it.  (I should have paid attention when the boys were talking.)

Good luck, Josh!  Have a great adventure!!!

Here are Lloyd’s two favorite Josh quotes from when he was 14 and spent the summer with us…

Josh talking with his Grandma: “Yeah, they [Lloyd and Lauren] have to buy all of their food from the store, ’cause they don’t got the woods”

A few weeks before the 4th of July, Josh wanted to buy some fireworks.  He asked Lloyd where the closest fire works stand was from our house.  Lloyd told him that there was one right up the street about 5 blocks.  Josh left to go shopping, but came back in about 30 seconds later: “Hey Lloyd, what’s a block?”

HA! HA! The block comment could be sold to a sit-com or comedian for sure! Contact Jeff Foxworthy immediately!

On the other hand, I wonder what zany things we all have said that our loving relatives would post about.

Here’s mine: Relative A explains how to decorate a cake to look like a bible. First, you cut the cake on the ends on a slant & then cut a “V” out of the center. Relative B asks, “Is that before or after you bake it?”

Is Lloyd wearing a suit or is that how master professors dress these days?

That’s really me in my Mr. Rogers sweater that I put on after I come home from school. Lauren is a miser and keeps the house at about 48 degrees. It’s something that she learned from David nee Davis Wilweber.

Lloyd’s brothers are all grown up now?!? I remember them being tiny when we were in high school. And, more importantly, did Cricket get any pizza?

I love how Cricket is trying to find out what food is still in the boxes on the counter!

Josh is going to do tree work? Isn’t there some TV show called “Men in Trees,” where there is one woman and a gazillion men? Hmmm.. Does Josh have an ulterior motive?

Yes indeed -- one of my favorite shows AND it takes place in Alaska! Advice for Josh: When my uncle worked as a “tree surgeon” in California he would use that to his advantage in fancy restaurants. He would give the name “Dr. Waldhauser” and tell them that he was a surgeon. He always got a nice table and good service.

Hi Josh! Have fun in Alaska!

There is a mulberry tree in my neighbor’s yard that needs to be cut down. Maybe after you get all good at cutting down trees in Alaska you could cut this one down.

Ok, Lloyd is Josh’s comment any different than my telling you I was out of patience and your asking me what it is that you will go get me some?
