Does she have a death wish?

July 24, 2008

Journal, Lauren

It was actually a pretty productive day, despite the fact that we didn’t get showered and dressed until 11:00. (A big ‘Thank you’ to Charles and Deb, who came by and shamed us into getting ready.)  Lloyd is almost done with the book he’s reading, and Brad’s post inspired me to do some cleaning.

Later in the day I actually got started on Home Visits.  The past four years I’ve been sending out a postcard to each child to let them know I’ll be visiting.  There’s a good reason for that.  It has to do with one young boy – five years ago – FREAKING OUT when I came to his house. He screamed and ran straight into a wall.  (He didn’t get out much.) Anyway, I was going along at a fairly good clip – printing, cutting, addressing – when Pfennig decided that I should be done.

She knows that’s a cutter, right?

I was going to say, no death wish, she just wants to be loved. But then I started to wonder what you were writing on. And then I understood. She’s put her head dangerously close to the guillotine!

Maybe she just noticed that her whiskers needed a trim…so she asked for a giant paper cutter…and when she was done she asked for a broom to clean up and got carried away and swept the whole house…and then she decided it was time for a nap, so she asked for a pillow…

It’s just drama. Isn’t she the drama queen? First she gets a urinary problem so you’ll feel sorry for her. When that wasn’t enough, she pretends to be suicidal. Sheesh! Get over yourself, Phennig.

So why are you sending postcards to kids?

Ha ha! It took me a minute to understand her death wish then I realized ( yes I am a bit slow) what she was laying on! Gave me a good chuckle for the day. Wish me luck we are cat sitting my sisters 8 wk old kitten for 10 days, oh those sharp little claws!
