Ouch. The truth.

Ouch. The truth.

We have a ‘one saying a day’ calendar at school that for the most part has been very uplifting. It’s about not sweating the small stuff, but sometimes the sayings feel a lot like daggers to my heart.

For instance, the past couple of weeks and the upcoming week are all about not interrupting people, talking over them, or always turning the topic of conversation back to yourself. They hurt, because this is exactly what I do on a daily basis. They really are hammering this point home. Whoever wrote this calendar is trying to send me a message.

No ego?!

Are you kidding, calendar?

Arrrrrhhhhh! This calendar is attacking me!

Why does everything always happen to me?

I wrote a long comment but I just deleted it because it was all about me. Oops, this is about me too.

What I meant to say is: Great post, Lauren! Tell me more!

I almost wrote, “I know, right?” Grrrgg!! I did it again! And again!

I’m laughing about that last one. The last phrase is hilarious:
“…a quiet inner confidence that is derived from letting others have it.”
HA! I know some people I’d like to let ’em have it!

Do you see me smiling and nodding?

Wait -- that’s about me then, isn’t it?

The one we enjoy most is: “I’m sorry that the middle of my story interrupted the beginning of yours.”

Ooo, I like my calendar much better. Here’s my March 6th:

I’m sure we all know people who talk too much … those few people who make it hard to get a word in edgewise. If there are times you feel like yelling, “Will you please JUST SHUT UP!” go right ahead & do it. Stop being an enabler.

Right on the mark. So very, very appropriate. Love it, love it. Keep sending more calendar quotes.
