Jeggings are not pants. Please put on some pants.

Last week we had a kindergarten girl who snuck a pair of tights in and sneakily changed into them, leaving her pants and socks stuffed behind the toilet. Everyone was in various stages of puzzled/amused/mortified (her mom), but honestly – no one noticed before she got on the bus.

(Please read the following in my Crabby Old Lady voice.) Pants these days. They’re just so tight! Leggings are the norm and while they are perfectly fine under dresses or long shirts, so many girls wear them with just regular shirts now.

The very next day we were outside playing and I pointed out three little girls to the other teacher. “See those leggings they’re wearing? They look just like Veronica did.*”.

Later, when we went inside, the youngest girl sat criss-cross in front of me and I realized….. Se was wearing tights under her t-shirt. *sigh* she had dressed herself and Daddy brought her. I don’t blame him one bit.

“C’mon, sweetie, let’s go find you some pants.”

This might be an easier version of the picture to see.

* Veronica is not her name, but it is a great song.

We just bought the Things some Skeggings, which make me laugh. They’re leggings (which they LOVE) with a little skirt sewn right onto them, to avoid all of that extra pull-yourself-together anxiety after a trip to the bathroom.

Now that is a brilliant idea!

One of the disastrous fashion ideas some moron came up with was the girl’s shirt with tabs at the shoulders for the straps on their overall-ish pants to go through so they wouldn’t keep slipping off. It all worked perfectly until that little girl had a bathroom emergency, then it was like a wearable trap.

Ha! That chart is funny. I am so glad that the fashion trend of wearing pants with something printed on the butt seems to have passed. Perhaps jeggings will soon also pass.

I had to look up what jeggings were. Sheesh.

Well, at least having boys I never had to worry about all these … eggings. It was hearing things like…Hey Matt look at my socks….I’ve worn them for 4 days…that mortified me.
