VBS Time

I got nothin’. Vacation Bible School has started up again, and in anticipation of the week I reread last year’s post about it. I was proud of myself for doing that in advance, since I remembered how tired I was last year since I couldn’t nurse my half-dozen cups of coffee throughout the morning.

No problem! Sunday night I started a batch of cold-brewed coffee and on Monday morning I drank a cup of the stuff straight – no diluting. After a half-hour, I started to feel funny. I usually don’t think of caffeine affecting me, but this stuff did it. Zowie.

Zowie. I think that’s what espresso must be like, only 12 ounces of it.

Lloyd, how’s Hawaii?

I walked on the beach and was terrified of snorkeling.

I loved snorkeling until I saw a dolphin nearby. It was then that I realized that this wasn’t a swimming pool, and there were things in there that were much, much bigger than me. Needless to say, I quickly swam back to shore. I haven’t been snorkeling since.

Wait. What?!?!? You saw a dolphin! That would have been pure heaven to me! I would have tried to swim with it. I think.

Lauren—do the kids notice when you’re all wired on your happy juice? Whenever I drank too much caffeinated coffee, my son Matt would say, “Mom, have you been drinking that special coffee again?”

Yes. Saw a dolphin. The snorkeling place was right next to the fenced off “swim with a dolphin” place. So I was on one side of the fence and the dolphin was on the other side. Not as exciting as seeing a truly wild dolphin, but scary enough for me.

They don’t really notice that anything is different, and they’re quite used to me always drinking coffee. Once I had a mom tell me her daughter played teacher all the time -- and carried a coffee mug around.

        Oops. Sorry, future generation.

I just reread your VBS post the other day… good, good stuff:) Our VBS got postponed until mid-July… ugh. I much prefer getting it over with as soon as possible!

Your snack lady should have coffee available for all of the workers. If she was more considerate, she would think of this!

(So that all of you don’t think I’m completely insensitive, I’m the snack lady, or as I prefer, Snack Queen.)

And I won’t be providing coffee.
