My class this year is a little trying. Once again, anyone who says that teaching preschool is just ‘babysitting’ should come sub for me for a day. I could use the break.
Sorry. Sore subject.
Anyway, my ‘teacher neutral’ face is usually pleasant, but I find that I am shifting much more to an almost-stern look for much of the day. At the very least, I’m trying to look pleasant but then shooting The Look at someone…. repeatedly.
Couple that with being tired, and I’ve noticed that my face is starting to hurt. I’ve tried blaming it on needing a new pair of glasses, but I really think I’m frowning/scowling too much. It feels like there is a drawstring around my face and someone is pulling it closed.
So that’s the visual. I am now – several times an hour – telling myself to open the drawstring and SMILE. Smile, Lauren, or Mrs. Sommerer will frown at you, and her face just can’t take it anymore.
