My regular 5:30 alarm went off but I didn’t get up until almost 8! Hooray for lots of sleep! I felt much, much better.
I schlepped around for a while and around 10 o’clock I was making my second cup of coffee, only to notice Sam and Rachel in the backyard. They had brought Gracen over to mow and were there to take some of the weeds volunteer trees and thin the hostas. Lloyd and I went outside. He helped with the actual work while I made a fire to burn up the branches. Fire is key.
Then he decided to get out the power washer that Sam loaned us, and he started to wash the house. Did you hear that? That is a thing that people actually do – wash. the. house. Wally was fascinated.
First he sprayed it with some house cleaning solution (that is not a made-up thing) and then power-washed it clean. I got to help with a little of it and I must say, it is tiring but very satisfying. The pressurized water basically strips the dirt off. It’s like reverse painting.
After that he used the power washer to wash the car. I helped by soaping it up first so the grime would come off better. Oh, and I documented. Documenting is key.
So there you have it – three big jobs in one day! Who would have thought that we had it in us?
Oh, I used the power washer for one more thing:

Wow! It’s amazing what one can do with a decent amount of sleep.

I’ve always been curious about using a power washer, but then I hear about people shooting themselves in the foot and getting hurt or something, and decide to postpone it.

You can experiment with it when you come out. My understanding is that, if you wear a rain coat, you are basically invulnerable to it.

I can see how it could damage your body. There is a trigger you have to push before you squeeze the handle and there is a fair amount of kickback when the water comes on. Plus the water comes out like a laser beam.
What I don’t understand is that you have to hold it in the open position while you start the engine (with a rope -- like a lawn mower). For me that is not humanly possible. I have become very weak.
