Ugh.

I am leery of complaining because it makes my mom worry, so mom – don’t worry. I’m just venting.

We are closed at the center tomorrow because so many of our staff are sick. CLOSED. We have never closed due to illness, but we have gone two weeks and two days with at least two staff calling in sick. At the start it was mostly afternoon college staff, but this week we had lead staff who were fighting the good fight and finally just had to stay home. (Five out yesterday.) We are also in the predicament of not having enough subs to call on to help. (We’ve put out an all-call for names to add to our sub list in addition to a cook.) It’s been a bit of a hardship for the healthy staff who has had to cover. I’ve spent the past two days subbing in the 2-turning-3-year-old room and let me just say that people who work with the little ones should be paid a thousand dollars every day. Me? I should just get a medal for keeping them alive.

Anyway, our announcement to the parents let them know that the healthy staff would be coming in to deep-clean the place, which I worry makes it sound like we never clean. We clean ALL THE TIME. ALL THE TIME. ALLLLLLL THEEEE TIIIIIIIIIIIIME. The thing is, it doesn’t matter. Fingers go in noses, hands go in mouths, those germs immediately get on others. When children come in secretly sick, then we just spread it around.

So, I am working tomorrow. After the cleaning, I have some other dumb big projects to try and take a stab at attempting. Then there is the weekend. Did I mention those panels?

Sorry for complaining. Remember, Mom, I’m ok.

We’ve had schools here in Baltimore do the same. I think our staff is done being sick for now. I’ve gone through sanitizing wipes like CRAZY lately.

I think that’s a good call. I think everyone just needs some time away, and the germs need some time to die. Hopefully you’ll be able to get a lot done without the kids around.

    Good decision.

And you deserve more than a medal. You deserve THOUSANDS of dollars and a cruise and all the tools you could ever want and an in-home cook for YOU!!!
