First of all, I should have reported on the pink eye. (My mom and Lloyd’s mom were asking.) I got prescription drops right away on Sunday, so everything is fine. 🙂
My 4th was a little different than past years. I woke up at 7 and went to feed and check on a co-worker’s guinea pig at the center. It was surprising how non-busy the town was. After heading home and showering, Lloyd and I went to the gallery to help host for the Marxhausen show. We weren’t expecting anything to sell today, but the owners say that there is a lot of foot traffic and they just didn’t want anything to get pocketed. Very wise.
I spent most of the day there. Other people manned the front area and (unknowingly) prevented theft, and I hung out in the little room giving my spiel. I’ve watched a lot of interviews and documentaries about Marxhausen, so I really enjoy talking about his work. The time went pretty quickly, and then it was time for the parade.
I was late. The group had already sung the National Anthem by the time I got there. That is my only regret.
The parade was looooooonnnnnnngggg. An hour and a half this year, but with a very respectable number of actual floats, very few semi trucks, and nine Czech queens. Wow. I really, really did not know how to spell that.
I skipped out on dinner and fireworks and went home for sleepy solitude. It was a good day, but not a normal 4th.
