Rolls of Tape

December 13, 2017

Well, Christmastime is coming around, and as usual, I am irritable about gift-giving. It is not my love language. I do not like receiving gifts and I suck at giving them. We are doing a Secret Santa thing at work and I seriously think about writing an apology with every trinket. “Sorry you had to have me.” On the flip side, my Secret Santa is fabulously clever and has showered me with clever generosity. Oh, my stomach.

Anyway, the gist of this is that I am not going to go nuts trying to give my kids a personalized present. They all love to make stuff with masking tape – which is $.96 a roll at Wal-Mart – so that’s what they’re each going to get. A roll of tape with ribbon that makes it look semi wreath-like. Imagine that I’ve already done that and posted a picture of them.

… want to wrap some rolls of tape for me?

Uh-oh. We’re having a Christmas party the last day before break. Should I get my homeroom gifts? Do seventh graders like masking tape?

      Here’s a list I posted on a Facebook thread if it’s helpful.

      <$5 ideas (and I consulted a middle schooler 😉 ):
Funny socks tailored for each kid
An extra recess surprise when you scheduled a test (FREE!)
A fun colored gel pen with a special note tied to each
A pad of fun colored/shaped sticky notes with a secret note written on a middle one
Candy (always popular, but not memorable)
A little plant (Cactus plants, maybe? Or spider plants?)
Chapsticks -- the flavored kinds (cola, cake, berry), even boys like them
A framed and autographed picture of you (HA! This one was fun!)
      A bookmark

Ok…you're probably tired of this list, but they're all middle-schooler approved, maybe something will give you an idea!

Great idea, Lauren. I get my kids something similar. I won’t tell you because it’s a surprise.

I have a 6-year-old and 4-year-old who LOVE tape. I should invest in Scotch tape. My investments would go through the roof!

Perfect gift for your little kiddos.
