We had such a nice Thanksgiving. Here is a photo of the dinner, but my Dad was too far out of the frame:
We had such a nice visit, but it was very short. Everyone had to get back on the road on Saturday. Keren and the boys needed to get to Salt Lake City for their various flights, and Lloyd and I left around noon to beat the weather…. sort of. We knew that the mountains were going to be tricky.
The first couple of hours were clear sailing – no snow or ice to speak of. However, the road signs kept telling us about severe weather at higher elevations and that trucks would need tire chains. Lloyd just had new tires put on the Prius, so he wasn’t worried. Once we hit snow, I out my seat back and covered my head – y’know, like you do for an animal to keep it calm. I snapped this shot blind:
Everyone was going nice and slow, and Lloyd is an excellent driver. It only got weird when we were about fifteen miles from the Eisenhower Tunnel. Traffic…… slowed.
Personally, I was glad we were going so slow, but man, it took forever to get to Denver. A 4 1/2 hour trip took about seven hours.
We didn’t take Interstate 76 back to Nebraska, but kept going on 70 and will drive through Kansas tomorrow and then north. It should be better weather than Nebraska will have. Right now we are in a nice hotel watching t.v. Ah, I love not being stuck in a car!

Good decision to go south first. We’ve got a regular blizzard up in these northern parts.
