Every morning when I go to work, I peek in the window well by the CDC’s kitchen. There have been two toads living there all summer. I worry a bit for them each day – are they alright? Do they have enough bugs to eat? Are they ever going to be able to get out? (I put a board in there once for them to escape, but they didn’t. Must be chicken.) Should I just be brave and grab them? Then I go inside and forget all about them as if they never existed at all. (There’s only one in the picture. The other one wouldn’t sign the release form.)
In other news, I stayed up until 1 finishing Harry Potter. Now I really know how it ends.

“Must be chicken.”
Didn’t you mean to say: “Taste like chicken”? Just where did that second toad go?
Did it surprise you when Voldemort said to Harry, “Luke, I’m your father”? I really didn’t see that one coming.

If I’d just gotten out of bed earlier I could have said “tastes like chicken.” Note the sticks to the right are just waiting to become skewers! And, there’s pineapple, green pepper and tomatoes under all those leaves!

YUCK!!! When I was 7, I learned that toads secrete something that keeps dogs from eating them. And some people (like me) are allergic to that secretion. I think I’m getting hives just looking at that picture…

I just learned yesterday that all toads are poisonous. They have two poison sacks on their back. (This was out of a little kid’s science book, but I trust it.)

That fateful summer my folks were mowing the grass and found toads hopping around. Mom gathered up the critters and gave them to the 4 of us to play with. That night they were rushing me to the emergency room because I had a horrible case of hives. It’s comforting to know my own mother nearly killed me by giving me poisonous toads to play with!!!

We have a garage toad…I think he’s probably camera shy, but I’ll do what I can…

We don’t have toads, but Brittney brought in a gecko last night. The livey all over the houses down here. We are also beseiged by an over abundance of crickets right now.
