Did you know that Azucar Moriarty is cheaper than regular sugar? I wouldn’t know either, except I’m so forgetful.
Back before I made my grocery lists (which, by the way, we test-drove on Sunday and it worked just dandy), I forgot to pick up sugar. Did you know that I am so incredibly lazy that even though I am in the store, if I forget an item along the path, I am not going back for it. “I forgot milk? Dang. Well, there’s no getting any now. That is all the way back in the corner of this building that I am currently standing in. Forget it. I don’t need milk on my cereal. I’ll use water.”
So I forgot the sugar (five aisles back), but we were in the awesome Latino food section, and lo and behold – Azucar! Lloyd is not as lazy as me, and went back to see if this suspiciously more-nutritious/less-processed sugar was the better buy. It was.
There, a boring story to start your Friday. You’re welcome.

I love azucar on my copos de maíz. I rarely have it in my café, though.

I’m not aware of this sugar…so it’s not granulated, right? How does that work out in everything…I mean in coffee I assume it would melt just fine…but what about in cookies, on cereal, pancakes?
¿Realmente? ¿Más nutricious?

You may want to consult with some online experts before you bake with it, if you plan to bake with it. Probably the recommendation will be to weigh it, since it will likely not be the same amount of sugar per measure. But I haven’t baked with those fancy (and cheaper!) sugars, so I really don’t know what I’m talking about.

I’d say for many things, cookies for example, it will turn out fine. When I was in Perú we used Azúcar Rubia in place of Brown Sugar and White Sugar…Because there wasn’t any…or it was expensive.. or both
Anyway. Azúcar Rubia was was raw sugar, but it was finer than that “sugar in the raw” stuff you find at Starbucks and they were honestly the best cookies I’ve ever had :)))
We also didn’t have cup measures… and we made the cookies in enameled metal bowls.. and it took probably an hour to cook them..
So good!

Lauren's mom says
Did you notice that you got 4 lbs. instead of five?
Lauren says
4 pounds is all our Wal-Mart sells. Oh, the sorrow.
