They can't all be winners.

Fly Dogz

January 26, 2020 by Lloyd 5 Comments

We have a gourmet hot dog place in Seward now. It’s actually in the building that was the last office for Oetting’s Detasseling. They opened about 2 weeks ago, and I’ve been wanting to go ever since, but Lauren has always had something come up. Well, last Thursday I finally got to go.

When Lauren came home from work I asked her if she wanted to go get a hot dog. She did not seem excited. Then I asked her if she wanted me to go get her a hot dog. She did not seem excited. Then I asked her if she wanted me to go get a hot dog and get her Runza. That was the right question.

I got the Chicago-ish hot dog. It was okay. The hot dog itself was good. It was a lot like a Johnsonville Beef Brot. The toppings were okay. The bun wasn’t very good.

I think part of the problem is that I had a really good Chicago style hot dog at Comminski park two years or so ago. This wasn’t that good.

I’ll give them another try and I won’t get the foot-long. Maybe their other buns are better.

Forge of Empires

February 28, 2017 by Lloyd 6 Comments

You’re going to have to blame Lauren for this one. She told me when I got home from parent-teacher conferences that I had to write the post. In her defense, I only had 3 parents show up. So that went well.

But I know why you really come here. You’re looking for something to waste your time. Well, do I have the game for you.  While I was sitting around the house being sick and bored a couple of weeks ago, an ad for a game popped up in Flip Board and, because reading Flip Board was getting boring, I decided to play the game.

It’s been a pretty good game. That is to say, I’ve enjoyed wasting my time playing it. I don’t know if you’ll like it. It’s hard to pick out games for other people. Except for Deborah. I know Deborah won’t like it. I think maybe it’s like Clash of Clans, but I haven’t actually played Clash of Clans. It seems like there’s more to do than in Clash of Clans though. At least from what I saw of Brad and Tim playing it. When you’re new, they put you in with a bunch of other new players, and that’s nice. I can tell I’m not doing a good job of selling it.

You can play it in a browser or on an iPad or Android device, which I guess is good for time wasting. If you want to try it, use this link, and I think they send me chocolates or something. I will share the chocolates with you.

More head shots

November 21, 2016 by Lloyd 6 Comments

My 8th graders really liked the Mona Lisa in the classroom. Well, actually they didn’t like it at first. They thought it was creepy. But eventually they came around and said that I should do the same thing in other classrooms. They got into it while I was cutting out heads during math class and started finding other heads for me to do.

I think I got 4 classrooms done in the first round, but then it occurred to me that the hardest part for me (the cutting) would be the easiest part for Lauren. After all, she actually teaches cutting. I think we did 7 or 8 more classrooms a couple of days later, and now we’re ready to do 8 more.  I think that leaves just a couple.

I was trying to be all sneaky about it (but without having to come in really early or stay really late). I’ve been found out by 2 teachers. They’ve been sworn to secrecy.

I really wasn’t expecting Wally to be all into it.

Dang it.

February 8, 2015 by Lauren 3 Comments

i forgot to write a post, and now I am in bed. I’m just going to pull random photos from the library and call it good. Wait. I am messing with the formatting tools instead. Is this colorful for you? If not, this is a really dumb string of words.

And it’s all right justified.

A first.

February 1, 2015 by Lauren 8 Comments

I sat through an entire Super Bowl game!

The end.

That sentence was almost a lie. I wrote it sitting on the sofa at Sam & Rachel’s where there were three minutes left in the game. I yawned and yawned. (I didn’t sleep well the night before.) Then some exciting stuff happened that I almost understood, then a fight broke out, then it was over.

My iPad is iDying.

January 23, 2015 by Lauren 3 Comments

Lloyd took my iPad cable to his school and the ‘replacement’ he gave me is sucking power from the iPad instead of charging it. (Don’t bother fact-checking that. I’m sure it’s a thing.)

Therefore, I give myself permission to sit on the sofa all night and watch episodes of Britain’s Great Bake-Off or whatever on PBS instead of typing a post on an actual computer.

Happy Saturday. Lauren out.
