Snug as a bug

February 15, 2010 by Lauren 14 Comments

So, Lloyd said that I had to use the “what’s weird about the living room” post yesterday so that I could show you our new rug today. Yes, there’s a new rug in the house! The youth group at church had a very nice spaghetti dinner and silent auction to raise money for their trip to the youth gathering. I bid on a rug, and won it!

This picture is overexposed.

Sidebar: I have the hiccups and it’s driving me nuts.

Ok, back to the rug story. Our old rug, which I move whenever I feel like it, has the distinction of being from a yard sale back in ’97 when we moved into this house. (It cost all of five bucks.) This rug, though – this rug is not a five-dollar rug. It is beautiful. My camera is crummy so it’s hard to tell, but it has all the same colors of our living room furniture (reds, blues, greens) but in very different hues.

In short, it does not go.

Lloyd surprised me by saying, “I like this rug so much I think we should have stuff that goes with it.”

Hmmmm….. anyone know a reputable re-upholsterer?

(I still have the hiccups.)

    Hi Lauren
Youve dragged me out of lurking. Ive loved your and Brad’s website for forever.
However as a sufferer of hiccoughs that literally lasted days I am honour bound to share this fool proof remedy with you.
Get a glass of water and Lloyd up. You can do this alone but best with someone else.
Either you or Lloyd put your fingers in your ears deeply enough to form a vacuum but not deep enough to puncture your brain. 😉 Drink a FULL glass of water (either by yourself or let Lloyd feed it to you.)
    dont stop.
    Hiccoughs will be gone.
For people on their own, a straw will work as well but is not quite as foolproof
    This really works.
    Love your blog guys.

Thanks, Nigel! That one’s going in the ‘keeper’ vault. 🙂

They went away before I read your comment, but I’m definitely going to use this the next time – and tell others about it.

I like how the pattern of the rug outlines the trunk. It’s cool.

Maybe you could spray paint your furniture to match.

I imagine the concentric rectangles moving toward the trunk. Then I jump on it like a power-up and run around the house all invulnerable.

HAHAHAHA!!! I saw that rug and thought of the two of you, but had no idea at all that you were the winning bidder! Fantastic!

But it does match…beautifully! Especially when there’s jeans in the room.

(But really, what’s the story on the legless chair?)

I was wondering the same thing. I want more on the legless chair.

Maybe you could add some blue and green lights to the little tree?

I think the rug looks fine, – especially with the trunk on top of it.
You are probably like me. Anytime I make any kind of a change, I don’t like it at first. It doesn’t look right to me, – not the way it is supposed to look. Give it a week, and it will probably start looking good to you.

    But…

Who is the guy on your couch?

Have I been gone that long?? I guess I’ll have to backtrack a bit
