On Saturday after the auction we went with Curt to the European Market in Lincoln. They have so many weird and wonderful things there I wanted to spend a long time reading labels, but the boys were getting bored, so I grabbed some things and we checked out. I was intrigued by these super-long noodles with ruffled edges, and once Lloyd said, “You could make a tiny lasagna with them”, I knew they must be mine. Here’s some of the haul. (Not the tin.)
Warning: Those are not pickles. They are marinated squash, or ‘pumpkin melon’ as it translates, and they are gross.
We got home and I set to work. I happened to have the licorice tin, and once the lid was removed, I boiled some noodles and assembly began.
I would like the record to show that while I was goofing around making this ridiculous thing, it was actually time to make a real dinner and I forgot all about feeding us. Lloyd had a sandwich, and I ate the rest of the noodles (since I only needed one but boiled several) with Italian dressing (all praise its delicious name).
Assemble, assemble. Bake, bake (for longer than you’d think).
It was so cute! But you know – that first piece is always so difficult to get out of the pan….
I know it’s silly, but I’m glad I did it.

That would be the perfect packed lunch! Just pop the lid on for transport. Keep it in your pants pocket, and it’s warm whenever you want to eat it.
Kristi says
Yum! You could freeze individual servings, yes?
Lloyd says
It was quite tasty too. I would not hesitate to recommend the tiny little lasagna noodles.
Mark says
Only you, Lauren.
Only you.
Peggy says
Mmmmmm….that does look delicious! And it’s the cutest thing ever!!!!
Did you have a little jar pie for dessert? How about a little loaf of that awesome bread you make? Wouldn’t that just be the best! My mouth is watering!
(btw: Just in case any gen-u-wine Italians ever stop by…that is not considered a 2 serving portion by their standards…2 bites maybe. A big ‘ol hunk of lasagna is often an appetizer in Italian homes. )
Curt says
Mmmm….looks good. Well done. But, you say it makes two servings…..I don’t think so. Maybe two bites.
And thanks again for the European Milky Way. It was good!
Peggy says
Jinx! Owe me a European Milky Way!
Amy says
Wow!! awesome!!
