Yesterday I read a friend’s Facebook post that was congratulating Ryun (pronounced ‘Ryan’) Yu, an old high school classmate, on his funny Ace Hardware commercial.
What the what? People I know aren’t supposed to be famous.
He’s been in some movies and t.v. shows (including an episode of Bones!), and has also done a bunch of voice work on video games. It’s so weird.
If I remember correctly, he was a year behind me and played the oboe in band. He was smart – scary smart. (Apparently he was the first person to graduate from MIT with a theater degree. I watched an interview where he made some math jokes that I didn’t understand.)
He asked me to dance once in high school, but it was a slow dance and I was all kinds of awkward and sweaty. (Boys made me a might nervous.) If only I had known! I could have smooched him and now be the one he thanks when he accepts his Oscar. “And to my first love, Lauren…..”
Dang it. Moment lost.

That is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! How thrilling this must be for you!
I don’t even know him, but knowing someone who knows someone who was on Bones makes me so excited!
And I’ve seen that commercial before….it is very funny! Now I can say…See that guy, I know him…..sort of.
Peggy says
Wait….am I going to sound crazy when I say I sort of know Ryun …. because he went to high school with a friend of mine….a friend I’ve never actually met.
Brad says
That is cool. I had to see what episode of Bones he was in. After reading the plot summary, I do remember it.

Ken Venzke (he was a year or two ahead of us in high school) is an actor and he’s always posting great pictures from fantastic locations.
Peggy says
Dang….could you & Lauren have a little reunion & invite these actors. Tell them to bring other actors with them
