Ok, first a pan update. I put hot water in the pan and let half of a dishwasher tablet dissolve for a couple of hours, then scrubbed with a nylon pad. Dumped that water, did it all over again and now I am done with it. The above photo shows my own gross pan on the left and the one from school on the right. I’d pat myself on the back except that the one from school is so scratched up I’m sure it will get gross again pretty quickly.
Ok, on to the post:
Today I was making regular Saturday breakfast: eggs, toast, bacon and coffee for both of us, and strawberry pancakes for me. I make just enough batter for two pancakes, sometimes four if I’m going to eat the leftovers on Sunday. No measuring: a couple of spoonfuls of flour, a little bit of baking powder, salt & sugar, some of the (uncooked) eggs and a little milk. Mix it up and add diced frozen strawberries.
As it turns out, if you add the strawberries still in their frozen state it messes up the cooking process a little. I have a new method: cut them up, scoop onto the knife, rest the knife over the coffee as it heats so they thaw. I’ve been doing this for months, and Lloyd just noticed now.
“That’s weird,” he said.
“Quiet, you,” I responded. “You don’t eat pancakes anyway.”
He proceeded to take many photos of the melting strawberries. I think we might need to get out more.

What kind of coffee do you make that heats on the stove like that?

Cowboy coffee. Water, grounds, brig to a boil. Let is sit a couple of minutes to steep and settle, then pour. You get a few grounds sometimes, but they stay in the bottom of the cup. (Don’t drink that last gulp.)

(My other post got deleted somehow.)
I asked if there was strawberry juice in your coffee.
