Dang it. I thought I was going to post about putting up the new range hood, but we only got as far as taking down the old range hood when I remembered that I don’t like doing any kind of hard work. That project is just going to have to wait.
Instead, here’s a conversation Lloyd and I had this evening driving home from McDonald’s. (You should know that Sam & Rachel and Deborah have all been involved in house shopping lately.) I was thinking about how I haven’t had to shop for a house in … what? Seventeen years?
Lauren: What would you do if something devastating would happen to our house? Something irreparable like a tornado or fire? What would your plan be?
Lloyd (pulls over into police station): Officer, I’d like to turn in my wife, the arsonist. I can do that in advance, right?
As I dreamed about rebuilding a tiny house on our lot (heck, maybe a second one for Lloyd), Lloyd looked up what our homeowner’s policy is worth. As it is, we have just enough money to build a tiny house for me. Score!

Your plan wouldn’t be to move to the Canadian wilderness?
